This cake is for a Silent Auction Ballroom Dance Fundraiser I put a certificate in from last Fall. The parameters for the cake were yellow, flowers and chocolate cake for an 11 yr old girl. I sure hope she likes it. I made gum paste for the first time and had high hopes that the Cricut Cake would cut it. Well it did kind of. I could still only do pretty basic shapes and the edges are ragged but that worked for texture to the flowers. I really need to do more research to learn how to use the machine.

1st Fondant Attempt
Decorating with fondant is so different then with frosting that it is hard to compare. Frosting is now “easy” and fondant is too unless you are trying to use a very picky machine. I made 2 different fondant recipes then still had to use the gross premade stuff from the store for the machine to cut it. Even with the store stuff the machine had a hard time with more detailed images. I will keep trying to figure out the machine but for now I think I’ll stick to fondant decorating by hand only because the store stuff is really not any good!
Branching Out into Fondant
I have realized that fondant is actually way easier and requires much less skill and time than the cake tip decorating that I’ve been doing. I can’t wait to dive in. I’ll be playing around all afternoon today. I’ll post my creations later today. I also have a new toy to help out the process. I just need to find a recipe that I love and works well and I’ll be set!

Welcome!
My Cake Pans
I really enjoy collecting these shape pans. Most of them are Wilton. Please look through the slide show so you can see all of the pans. These pans can be borrowed by neighbors and friends or I can decorate a cake for you with the pans. I do ask that the pans be washed by hand and returned promptly. Let me know if you’d like to use a pan. My contact info can be found at the contact page tab found at the top of the page.
